General Battle o' Bands info, observations

We here at the Heirloom Arts Theatre love bands...bands who play music.
And, being Americans, we love war...alright, agreed.
However, we [the heirloom] do not actually endorse any "Battle of the Bands" events. Certain promoters do rent our venue for such events, and we laud them for their efforts.
We [the Heirloom] have no say in who will be booked for such an event.
We [the Heirloom] have no 'vote' in any process pertaining to the "Band Battle" thingy.
We [the Heirloom] are not obligated to book any band who has won/lost/tied/retreated from any "Battle of the Bands" type event...this being an event booked outside of our regularly scheduled "non battle of the bands" type events.
We [the Heirloom] are not about to formulate opinions on the type of bands that DO perform at "Battle of the Bands" events, ensured that the reasons are myriad; the performers, legion.
So therefore, and in closing, We [the Heirloom] kindly ask you [the performer-band members-parents of the accused-friends-extended families-organizations involved with-corporations endorsing-management-and all bodies, living-deceased with any reason whatsoever to even think of contacting us directly about such events....] not to contact us [the Heirloom] in regards to such events (past-present-future)...unless
a) in the case you have lost the contact information for the promoter
b)you are in need of directions...which are on the main page of our websites, anyways
c)you would like to actually get your band booked here in the first place.

Good luck, and if you find youself outmanned, outmanuevered, outflanked and outfought...just remember that you should have had yourself a good breakfast this morning, and this would never have happened...

Success

The Heirloom would like to thank everyone for coming out this weekend to support not only the venue but local business, jewelers, artists and musicians. The Trash or Treasure tag sale was a great success.. It took hard work, alot of planning and great friends to make it happen. The day had a great vibe: a mixture of people doing what they love, working together and enjoying eachothers ideas and creativity. The tag sale could not have been possible without Trash American Style, made by Scarlet, black sheep vintage clothes, Chris Neilsens Crap shop, The Mercurial and everyone who helped set up. The whole day was filled with extra special highlights- the open mic had a great turnout and amazing talent... From extra loud guitars to Malcolm Tent on the acoustic guitar... We will have to have more open mic's in the future!
The night ended with music.. Rachel Browne opened the night.. Everyone was in awe of her style and grace on the stage.. Differo, which is a duo made up of AnnMarie Ryzak and Jay Munro was a great treat.. Scott Daly of Arm and Legs played an epic acoustic set as well as Alex Burnett and the proud flesh closing down the show with the upbeat sound of a trumpet and fun songs!
All in all I am very impressed with what can be acomplished when people communicate and work together with the goal of bringing people together to appreciate local art and having fun at the same time. Hopefully there will be even more in the future.
A big thank you for all your support and keep checking out the website and blog for more great things to come...

Using a digital sampler, Colorusso creates a live loop that he plays along with and against. A delay pedal allows him to take breaks and let MB 89 play on without him even being in the same room. He tends to perform in four-hour increments, but last week's show in Indianapolis inspired him enough to play for more than five hours. ("It just felt right," he explains.)

"I love how everyone has a different reaction to the work," he says. "Once, I presented MB 89 at a high school, and the students were like, 'Man, what kind of drugs is that guy taking?' Of course, I don't do drugs, but I understand the concern."
